About Liz

Life has always been very interesting for me.  In the past nine years, since I moved out on my own at 19 years old, I have lived in six different states including Massachusetts and Florida, been homeless once, and held a vast array of jobs such as working for a TV show and balancing paperwork and inmates at a bail bonds office… all before the age of 25 years old.  To be hokey, however, I have to say that after all the experiences I’ve had, it’s nice to be back home in the DC area.

Another major part of my life is my husband, Patrick.  On May 2, 2010, we tied the knot in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia after a two year engagement.  When he’s not fixing computers and managing networks in Washington DC, he is making me laugh endlessly.

We moved this past March to a new home in Virginia, but still well within my comfort zone of being inside the Beltway and just outside of DC.   This move definitively put to rest the long-standing debate Patrick and I have had ever since we started dating: Which is better? Virginia (where I’m from) or Maryland (where he’s from)?

In case you’re wondering how Virginia won, I have seven words for you: They sell beer at the Rite Aid.

Hilariously enough, though, we always thought our move to the ‘burbs would be temporary.  We counted down days, weeks, months until we could move back to the District of Columbia, only to realize that hey, we like it here.  We like larger, more dog-friendly apartments.  We like being able to zip around without wanting to throw ourselves off a cliff when trying to deal with city traffic.  So we’re staying put, embracing married life in suburban Virgina.

When I’m not living the life of a rockstar in Alexandra, Virginia (re: sitting on my couch watching Law & Order reruns), I work for LivingSocial, here in our nation’s capital.  In addition, I’m also a full-time PR and Marketing student — finally finishing up after starting at Boston University many years ago.  Better late than never?

Let’s see, what else. I’ve recently embraced the world of yoga and I’m now an aspiring runner.  While you will never be able to pry cheese from my cold, lifeless hands, I’ve really embraced fresh, local food. I’m also a nerd. I’m a karaoke superstar — okay, not really, but I love it.  I love trying new restaurants almost as much as I love curling up on the couch with my husband and our two dogs. I’m a big movie buff. I’m six feet tall. I hate the texture of bananas.

That’s me in a nutshell.

Haha me and my husband have the MD vs. VA argument (he’s from Arlington, I’m from Bethesda). So we have to live in DC to keep the peace.

Oh my gosh, like there’s even a debate! Virginia all the way! Well, to be more specific, NORTHERN Virginia, haha. I mean, hello, alcohol in grocery stores, purchasable on Sundays… No question. I will give Maryland props for posting nutritional information on all their restaurants’ menus, but we’re not too far behind.

That’s awesome that you work for LivingSocial, I have a few friends who work there too and love it. Must be awesome to be part of something so nationally popular! I can’t wait to read more posts from another fellow Niethern VA gal and terrier lover :)
